The groundbreaking ceremony last Monday for the Asia University Hospital marks the beginning of a new era for Asia University (AU). AU Founder Tsai Chang-hai, President Jeffrey Tsai and many distinguished board members of AU commemorate the historical moment on July 21, 2014. Located right next to the AU campus, the Asia University Hospital aspires to offer state-of-art facilities and services to its patients. The 23 areas of comprehensive services that the hospital will provide include: Neurology & Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery, Respiratory Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Otolaryngology, Radiation Oncology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health, and Chinese Medicine. A well-equipped and staffed 24-hour Emergency Unit and an Intensive Care Ward will also be the highlighted strength of the hospital. With its magnificent 8-floor building, the hospital will facilitate 483 beds when completed. Upon its opening in January of 2016, the hospital will serve not only Wufong, Taiping, and Wuzhi areas in the Metropolitan Taichung City, but also the neighboring Nantou and Changhua counties. The launching of the Asia University Hospital will also signify the expansion of the academic strengths for the university. This new addition will call for an inclusion and integration of many academic disciplines, including Accounting, Social Services, Bio-technology, Psychology, Long-term Care, Nursing, Healthcare, Health and Nutrition Technology. It can be expected that, in the near future, prospective students can benefit from the professional training and quality education such a system provides.
