Asia University Holds a Year-End Party for Overseas Chinese Students and Teachers!

  The Office of Student Affairs at Asia University (AU) held a year-end party on Jan. 14 for the overseas Chinese students and teachers. The increasing number of overseas Chinese students of AU this year made the party more joyful. Besides Vice President Huei-Chen Ko, Dean of the Student Affairs Office Shao-Liang Chang, the Section Chiefs of the Student Affairs Office, and the staff of the International College, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council (OCAC) also sent associated supervisors to join the party and bring the students significant information about staying in Taiwan.

    Vice President Huei-Chen Ko represented President Jing-Pha Tsai to wish the overseas Chinese students a Happy Lunar New Year. She hoped that the overseas Chinese students who did not go home in the winter vacation could feel the new year atmosphere and the considerateness from the school. Also, she wished the students good luck for doing well in the final examinations.

  Dean of the Student Affairs Office Shao-Liang Chang thanked the students for supporting the activities on campus and the officials from the MOE and OCAC for assisting the students’ activities held by AU. Moreover, he urged the staff of the Student Affairs Office to keep up providing better care and services for the overseas Chinese students.

  Yao-Tsung Chih, the Education Counselor of the Department of International and Cross Strait Education at the MOE, said that the MOE offered many opportunities for overseas Chinese students to work or continue studying in Taiwan after graduation and that students could apply and stay in Taiwan for works as long as they passed the assessment. Meanwhile, Su-Zhen Lu, the Deputy Director of the OCAC, provided a Facebook account for the students to easily access event information relevant to the OCAC.

  In addition to the martial art performance by the overseas Chinese students and karaoke singing, lantern-riddle solving and lucky draw activities made the party full of new year atmosphere. A lot of bonus and prizes of the lucky draws this year were given to each of the overseas Chinese students. Also, the food at the party was so delicious that the students received the warmth of home.

  Heng-Li Ho, a student from Macau, said that the overseas Chinese students received great care from the school while they were studying alone in Taiwan. It was thoughtful of the school to bring warmth by arranging the year-end party for them to get together. He sincerely regarded Taiwan and AU as his second home and thanked AU for everything it did for the overseas Chinese students.
