Asia University (AU) held a 15th anniversary celebration ceremony on March 19. In addition to the ceremony, the celebration activities include a campus fair with many booths of funs and creativity at the sidewalk near the College of Information and Electrical Engineering. In the ceremony, AU President Jing-Pha Tsai encouraged the faculty and staff to keep fostering the excellence of the school.

Hsing Wu University (HWU) President Tsan-Der Chou, as a honored guest of the ceremony, praised the great achievements of the 15-year-old AU which has become a university with the honors of “four top-100’s in the world.” “Asia University is visionary, pioneering, and fast-growing school with remarkable international competitiveness,” said Chou, “and is really a pride of Taiwan!”

The 15th AU anniversary celebration ceremony took place in the AU International Convention Center. The guests include HWU President Tsan-Der Chou, President Pao-Chin Yang of Shin Min Senior High School, Deputy Manger Shu-Yun Lin of Hiwin Company, Deputy Manger Yu-Hui Lin of HiwinMikro Company, and China Medical University Hospital Adviser Chiung-Chu Yang. The ceremony opened with the greeting performance of the Dancing Lion Team coming from Kuang-Cheng Elementary School. AU President Jing-Pha Tsai gave a “Chinese red envelope” to the team to thank them for the greeting.

As pointed out by President Tsai, heading to the 15th year of school establishment, AU has been evaluated one of the teaching excellence universities by the Ministry of Education (MOE) for 11 straight years; and the famous UK Times Higher Education (THE) World Ranking has reported the top-100 universities in Asia every year, and Asia University, being 15 years old only, is in the list of 2015. AU has also been ranked by the THE in recent three years to be in the lists of three differently-evaluated top universities in the world, becoming a university with “four top-100’s” honors. “The efforts and the progress made by AU are remarkable,” said President Tsai, “and the university campus is on a convenient location, with beautiful scenery and rich cultural atmosphere, which are ideal for students and professors.”

Furthermore, evaluated by the Cheers Magazine as a rising new star among the private universities, AU is ranked for the 2nd time within the first five in the list of top 20 best school-running universities in Taiwan, as mentioned as well by AU President Tsai. “The watermelon field seen around 15 years ago has changed into an international university, which is AU,” emphasized President Tsai while recalling the school history in the ceremony.

HWU President Tsan-Der Chou, while giving a speech in the celebration ceremony, said that Asia University is a miracle of the academic circle in Taiwan! He mentioned as well that in recent years, AU has invited 14 Nobel Laureates to give speeches to or hold symposiums with the students and faculty members of AU, promoting their global views of academics and teaching. He also mentioned that AU is a university of “four top-100’s” as evaluated by the UK THE reports although AU is just 15 years old, and that the AU founder Chang-hai Tsai has invited Mr. Tadao Ando to design an art museum for Asia University, which is completed and opened to the public already. “These are really incredible achievements of a new university like AU,” said Chou.

President Chou also mentioned AU have four traits. First of the trait, AU has leaders of great vision and like eagle’s view. Second of the trait, AU like a wonderful reach of wolf. Third of the trait, AU foster excellence of school running with every teachers and just like industrious cattle. Forth of the trait, AU set up unite of office and the team of extremely efficient. “Asia University is really a unique school,” said President Chou.

AU research of the Internet of things, Internet, 3D printing and Big Data…etc., and make AU student more competitive. In addition, AU’s ranking has reported the top-100 universities in Asia every year; and Asia University, being 15 years old only, is in the lists of both 2014 and 2015.

In the ceremony, AU President Tsai presented appreciation certificates to the chairman of Jhong-Siang Building Service Company, Ho-Chou Lin, the marketing director of Gorgeous Space, Inc., Wei-Hsuan Li, and architects Ming-Tsung Wu and Yung-Fang Chuang, for their generous donations to the university. In addition, President Tsai praised three outstanding students for their good records of life and study on the campus, after presenting many awards of teaching and research excellences to faculty members.

Finally, the song of “Happy Birthday to Asia University” was sung jointly by all the guests and participants of the ceremony, greeting AU and wishing her to move forward toward the establishment of a world-famous university!
