Department of Healthcare Administration, Asia University invited Professor Fu,Shih-Hau from Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology, to talk about the application of Flexi-bar and Redcord in health promotion for older adults." In the series of talks on "Long-Term Care and Healthcare Management Issues" on November 20th, 2018. First, professor Fu introduced Redcore to students. Redcore is from Norway. It was originally used to treat patients with spinal injuries caused by car accidents. Redcore can improve the joint stability. And the stability of the joint is very important to older adults. Professor Fu mentioned that Redcore has a classification system. According to the position of the rope, the hanging position, the height of the rope, the hanging point of the rope, the width of the rope, and so on, they can design suitable training for different people. There are four concerns when designing a movement for older adults: mobility, stability, control mobility, and skill.

Professor Fu mentioned that Flexi-Bar has the benefits of extending the advantages of Redcore. The Flexi bar was invented by a German physiotherapist. It swings at a fixed frequency of 4.6Hz and secretes endorphins quickly into the brain. Other benefits of Flexi Bar is to induce the core muscles. When conducting the training while listening to music. The music can be matched with the frequency of 4.6Hz so that everyone can naturally follow the moves. Because the swings can quickly eliminate the acidity from doing the exercise, older adults are more likely to do it. Professor Fu also indicated that Flexi bar is not for everybody. For example, people with severe hypertension, acute inflammation, heart disease, and Angiomas. Finally, Professor Fu said that, when designing the movement for the elderly, it must be fun, and have classification system. According to the individual’s physical ability, you have to design different movement that is not too difficult for them. But some of the movement should be more difficult, so that they will have a sense of achievement after the exercise.
