In the ranking list just released last week, only four Taiwanese universities made it onto the list. Asia University took the 99th place as a new entry to the list, and is the only private institution among four universities. The other three Taiwan universities include: National Sun Yet-San University, ranked at the 40th place and dropped from the 37th from last year; National Taiwan University of Science and Technology improved from the 45th place to the 42nd place, whereas National Yan-Ming University improved from the 98th place to the 96th place.

Dr. Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, the president of AU, said that AU has achieved outstanding performances in diversified fields of research and education, such as biotechnology, medical care, medical cloud computing, semi- conductor simulation technology, long-term care system, as well as art management and leisure and recreation management.

In Taiwan, AU was awarded the Ministry of Education Teaching Excellence grants for 9 consecutive years, and was acknowledged as the best in the third-category universities by the Taiwan Higher Education Evaluation Committee. President Tsai added that the AU design and invention team has also accomplished remarkable achievements, winning more than 60 gold medals at the invention fairs held in Malaysia, France and Switzerland, Korea, and other international competitions, including 14 Red Dot and IF Design Awards, in recent years.

“As an advantage from continuous development from global mobility, the students of the Asia University are increasingly exposed in the international and global arenas,” President Tsai emphasized.
